Banzuke is designed to respect your privacy. We do not collect, store, or share any personal information. All app data is fetched from a public API and cached temporarily on your device.
Data Collection
Banzuke does not collect any personal data. Specifically:
- We do not collect analytics or usage data
- We do not use any third-party tracking or advertising SDKs
- We do not collect device identifiers
- We do not collect location data
- We do not require account creation or login
Data Sources
Banzuke fetches publicly available sumo wrestling data (tournament results, rankings, match schedules, and wrestler profiles) from the Sumo API (sumo-api.com). These network requests contain only the query parameters needed to retrieve the data — no personal information is transmitted.
On-Device Caching
Sumo data fetched from the API is cached temporarily in memory on your device to improve performance and enable limited offline functionality. This cache:
- Is stored only in memory (not written to disk)
- Expires automatically after 10 minutes
- Is cleared when you close the app
- Contains only publicly available sumo data, not personal information
Favorites
Banzuke allows you to mark wrestlers as favorites. Your favorite selections are stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.
On-Device AI (Matchup Simulation)
On supported devices, Banzuke uses Apple Intelligence to generate enhanced matchup narratives. This processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's on-device language model. No data is sent to any server — not to us, not to Apple, and not to any third party. On devices without Apple Intelligence, a statistics-based analysis is generated locally instead.
Children's Privacy
Banzuke does not collect any data from any user, including children. The app displays publicly available sports data and does not contain user-generated content or social features.
Third-Party Services
Banzuke does not integrate with any third-party services that collect user data. The app contains:
- Zero advertising frameworks
- Zero analytics libraries
- Zero social media SDKs
- Zero crash reporting tools that transmit data externally
The only external network communication is fetching publicly available sumo data from the Sumo API.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date. Since Banzuke collects no personal data, changes are unlikely but would only occur if new features are added.
